Where It All Started: Building Foundations on and off the Ice
Born in Anaheim, California in 2006, Aidan Rioux developed his hockey foundation through roller hockey and street hockey before transitioning to ice at age 10 with the Junior Ducks program. At 12, he moved to British Columbia to pursue junior hockey opportunities, spending four years competing in Canadian leagues and progressing from Tier 2 with the Abbotts Field Pilots to AAA Tier 1 competition in the BCEHL. This experience required living with host families while developing both hockey skills and personal independence away from home.
Pushing Forward: Precision, Preparation, and the Next Level
Rioux currently competes as a forward for Thunder Hockey Club in the USPHL Premier league, wearing number 74. After recovering from an injury that limited his previous season, he focuses on comprehensive preparation including daily skating, pickup games, and conditioning work. His approach to hockey emphasizes skill development and hockey intelligence, influenced by coaches who prioritize technical finesse over physicality. The Thunder coaching staff has invited him to their Tier 2 NCDC camp, providing an opportunity to compete at a higher level and continue his development path.
